Dogs usually suffer from fungal infections like Malassezia that causes itchy skin rashes and burns, while cats are prone to respiratory infections. Make sure to properly dry your pet if ever your dog or cat gets caught in the rain. Ensure that their paws are also dried properly if they do manage to walk on wet roads and sidewalks. You can also use a special raincoat or walking shoes you really need to walk your dog in the rain. As much as possible, keep your dogs or cats dry and indoors whenever the rain is pouring outside.

The amount of food your pet consumes should also be adjusted according to their level of activity to avoid gaining unnecessary weight and other issues such as obesity. Make sure their pet food contains quality fibrous fruits and vegetables to help aid in proper digestion and regular bowel movements.

5. Keep it fun indoors. Since pet’s will have less opportunities for outdoor activities, it’s best to keep them moving with indoor exercises and games like playing fetch, running up and down the stairs, or let them chase after balls. These indoor activities can make up for their lack of outdoor play time to keep them busy and active.

6. Groom regularly.Brush and groom your pets regularly to maintain their healthy and beautiful coat. Make sure to keep their ears clean and dry their coat properly after every bath to make sure there is no moisture left that can lead to skin or ear infections.

8. Provide access to clean water. Make sure that your pet has access to clean and filtered water to avoid any cases of diarrhea or stomach infections.

9. Make them comfortable during thunderstorms. Some pets are scared and anxious of sudden loud noises. During thunderstorms, pets may restlessly pace back and forth, start to shake, bite or excessively chew on their fur. To help keep them calm, you can give them calming supplements to help ease their anxiety during thunderstorms. If it’s not possible to keep your pet in a quiet room, make sure they feel safe and comfortable by hugging them and keeping them cozy and warm. The feeling of being held and hugged helps calm them down during thunderstorms.
